Everything your engineers need to evaluate AGAT
A study to investigate the considerations and concerns associated with airside applications of artificial turf was conducted using input from the artificial turf manufacturers and by administering and discussing questionnaire surveys via site visits to airports. These site visits were scheduled with some airports that already had installed artificial turf plots and during the installation of artificial turf plots at other airports.
This Advisory Circular (AC) provides guidance for the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of aviation grade artificial turf in areas adjacent to the operational
areas of an airport.
AGAT has been installed in airports since 1998 and a significant number of helipad landing pads all over Europe the last 8 years. So far, only undocumented landing test have been made with helicopters to confirm any landing risks, such as dynamic rollover due to a stuck landing gear in the installation, as a result of the layout/design of the AGAT or a damaged landing gear structure.

20+ years with minimal maintenance. Our oldest installations (20+ years) show no significant degradation. Compare that to natural grass (constant maintenance) or concrete (cracking after 10-15 years).
Yes. AGAT is FAA compliant and has been approved by FAA, CAA UK, ICAO and multiple NATO facilities. We provide all compliance documentation for your procurement team.
Most helipad installations: 3-5 days. Landing strips: 2-4 weeks depending on size. Compare that to concrete (months of curing) or grass (growing season required).
Absolutely. Proven operational from -50°C to +60°C. Our Greenland installations face Arctic winters, and our Abu Dhabi installation handles desert heat. If it works there, it works anywhere.
Minimal. Visual FOD inspections (you're doing these anyway), occasional brushing to keep pile upright, and periodic cleaning. No mowing, no watering, no herbicides, no resurfacing.
Let's talk about your specific facility, challenges, and goals. We'll help you figure out the best approach.
